How to Choose Quality Cookware

When selecting cookware, you should choose only products of high quality; well-made cookware can last a lifetime, but poorly made or otherwise faulty cookware is sure to fail when you need it the most. Purchasing one good cooking tool at a slightly higher cost is ultimately less expensive and more convenient than buying three that are not manufactured as well. Keep reading to learn how to choose quality cookware in a few, easy steps.

  1. First: Know the manufacturer

If you do not know who the manufacturer of cookware and it does not have a recognized brand name, then the company has no reputation to uphold. This is a problem because companies with an established reputation keep that reputation by manufacturing quality cookware. If a cookware company needs to hide under a store brand, whether it makes frying pans or simple spoons, then it is wise to avoid it.

  2. Second: Understand the materials

When selecting cookware, you need to make sure to know what materials are involved. If you choose to purchase utensils, for example, then you should know that a utensil made entirely of stainless steel is likely to withstand much more use than one that is simply plated with a stainless coating. A spatula made from cheap plastic instead of real Teflon is likely to scrape off during use, giving your pancakes a few small, plastic additions in the process. Material thickness also has an effect; while a pan made from thinner aluminum may conduct heat a tiny bit faster, it is going to dent the first time it is dropped. Choose high-quality materials for your cookware.
